Alanya City Council supported the environmental protest organized under the leadership of Alanya Environmental Volunteers Platform against the capacity increase of Aytemiz Filling Facility, under the leadership of Mayor Nurhan Özcan and with the participation of the council components.
At the event, environmental volunteers, civil society organizations and citizens came together to voice their reactions to this project that threatens the natural beauty and living spaces of Alanya. The speeches emphasized the air and water pollution, damage to the ecosystem and the damage that the capacity increase could cause to the agriculture and tourism sectors of Alanya.
President Nurhan Özcan, in his statement at the protest, expressed his determination in the environmental struggle with the following words:
“We are here for clean air, clean water and healthy soil. We will defend the environment, human health and the right to life for the future of our city.”
Alanya City Council stated that it will continue its struggle to protect nature, guided by science and the will of the people, against any project that may harm the environment.
